What’s the Surfana vibe?
Each year we do our best to put together the best vibes and surround ourselves with nature, freedom, sports, good music, surprise acts and lots of clinics and workshops. Most importantly: Surfana brings together the most supporting, energetic, loving, sportive and free crowd! Young and old. Everyone is welcome. A big part of the crowd are not only the visitors, but the artist too. They are very important for the atmosphere and vibes at the festival. So, what do they think about Surfana Festival?
What do (international) artist think of the festival?
Surfana Festival has been going for five years now. The 2018 edition will be the 6th edition and it’s clearly not only the supporters and Dutch surf scene that loves Surfana Festival. Also the (international) bands and artist reckon Surfana is one of the most unique festival to play at! To put into the words of Ziggy Alberts who posted this on his Facebook last year: “Surfana Festival was probably the best festival we’ve ever been to/played at.”

As we mentioned, Ziggy Alberts from the East Coast of Australia loved playing at Surfana. The folk, singer/songwriter toured throughout Australia last year ‘Heaven Australia Tour 2017’, came all the way to Europe and obviously preformed at Surfana Festival 2017. Ever since his tour last year his following has been growing everyday with 70 million streams on Spotify alone. In this interview with Eva from Hummingbird, Ziggy explains the vibes, the crowd, the surroundings at Surfana Festival 2017 and tells why he loves Surfana!

South African performer Sean Koch joined us at Surfana 2016 and was super stoked about the vibes at the festival. The four-piece band from Cape Town, South Africa have been creating infectious music from early 2016 and short after their first EP track ‘Natural Projection’ they have completed three European tours!
In this video he posted about the festival last year, he tells us how the people have been amazing and what he thought about the festival. He even gave several shows spread over the weekend! On the last day he said: “Last night was so sick!”. We’re more than happy that Sean is also playing at Surfana Festival this year again!

The Australian band from the Sunshine Coast started in 2002 and is worldwide popular with their Australian earth music with sublime dimensions. OKA draws upon their indigenous connection to place and country to create their signature feel good Australian earth sound. A blend of influences spanning house, big beat, reggae-dub, Roots, Jazz and world music. OKA sold over 170.000 albums, and just like Sean Koch, OKA played at the 2016 edition of Surfana Festival! After their performance the band posted on their Facebook that Surfana Festivals was easily one of the best festivals they have ever played at!

The Amsterdam psychedelic, shamanic trio including the New Zealand guitarist have been touring all over the world and are now ready to release their third album! When they first performed at Surfana Festival 2015 they certainly had some stage experience before but had to confess after the gig in 2015: “We’re having a ball this festival season… Lowlands, Glastonburry, Sziget… Beautiful crowds, big stages…But truth be told, one of the biggest parties must have been at Surfana in their little hide out in the dunes.” The band even won an Edison Pop Award in 2016 in The Netherland.

In 2015 the popular band Sticky Finger came to The Netherlands during their tour. That was base for an amazing, wild and creative weekend! And so thought Dylan, one of the band member. During the festival he even got the word ‘LEKKER’ (very Dutch) tattooed on his belly! Well, if this photo doesn’t say more than a thousand words?
